Three Women Shot at Hardee’s and Food Lion in Fayetteville: Was Inadequate Security to Blame?

FAYETTEVILLE, Nc. — Three women were injured in separate shootings during a series of violent incidents in Fayetteville, North Carolina, early Sunday morning, according to authorities. Investigators said the incidents included two attempted carjackings at commercial parking lots, including locations near a Hardee’s and a Food Lion.

The first incident was reported at approximately 7 a.m. in the 700 block of Messenger Street. Cumberland County Sheriff's deputies responded after receiving a report of gunfire and located a woman who had suffered a gunshot wound.

Police soon received another call involving an attempted carjacking and shooting at the Hardee’s parking lot in the 6300 block of Ramsey Street.

A third shooting was then reported at the Food Lion parking lot in the 900 block of McArthur Road. Police responding to that location found another woman who had suffered a gunshot wound following another reported attempted carjacking.

The suspect was taken into custody, while the two women injured in the Hardee’s and Food Lion parking lot shootings were transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where both were reported to be in stable condition.

57-Year-Old Galal Mohamed Abadi Fatally Shot Outside Brazwells Pub in Charlotte: Was Inadequate Security to Blame?

CHARLOTTE, Nc. — A deadly shooting outside Brazwells Pub in south Charlotte left 57-year-old Galal Mohamed Abadi dead, prompting an investigation into what led to the violence and whether additional information could emerge about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said Abadi was shot in the parking lot of Brazwells Pub on Montford Drive during the early morning hours of Saturday, Aug. 22. Emergency medical personnel transported him to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Police have not announced an arrest in connection with the shooting. Investigators recovered two firearms as part of the investigation and continue to work to determine exactly what happened before the gunfire.

Fatal Atlanta BeltLine Stabbing Near Kroger Raises Security Questions: Was Inadequate Security to Blame?

ATLANTA, Ga. — A 29-year-old man died after being stabbed Sunday afternoon near the Kroger at 725 Ponce De Leon Avenue along the Atlanta BeltLine, according to Atlanta police. Officers responded around 4:01 p.m. after receiving a report of a stabbing and found the victim suffering from stab wounds. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Police arrested 54-year-old Johnathan Hamby at the scene. Investigators recovered the knife and said Hamby and the victim did not appear to know one another. Police Chief Darin Schierbaum said the confrontation began with a verbal argument before escalating into the fatal stabbing.

Authorities have not released the victim's name or provided additional details about what led to the argument. Police said Hamby has an extensive criminal record, including at least 30 previous arrests, and was on probation for an aggravated-assault case.

The fatal stabbing comes after another highly publicized stabbing on the Atlanta BeltLine earlier this year.
On May 14, 23-year-old Alyssa Paige was fatally stabbed near the 1700 block of Flagler Avenue NE, where the Northeast and Eastside trails meet. Police arrested 21-year-old Jahmare Brown, who was later indicted on murder and other charges.

The Paige case also involved another alleged attack shortly beforehand. Police said Brown attacked a postal worker with a rock near a nearby post office before the fatal BeltLine stabbing.

These incidents do not automatically establish that the BeltLine, Kroger, or another property owner was negligent. However, a history of violent crime can become relevant when examining whether criminal activity was foreseeable and whether reasonable safety measures were appropriate.
