Officials later identified the victim as 17-year-old Rashawn Mackey. Police stated that the victim was in his late teens to early 20s at the time of the shooting.

Shooting at The Jerk Shack in Brunswick, GA Leaves One Dead, Sparks Safety Concerns

BRUNSWICK, Ga. — Authorities in Brunswick have taken a suspect into custody following a deadly shooting that occurred early Sunday morning outside a restaurant on Altama Avenue.

According to the Brunswick Police Department, officers were in the process of clearing the parking lot of The Jerk Shack when they heard a gunshot at approximately 2 a.m. Officers immediately began investigating the source of the sound and located a man who had sustained a gunshot wound.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation assisted local authorities with processing the scene as part of the ongoing investigation.

Officials have not released additional details at this time. The case remains active as investigators continue working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

COLUMBUS, Ga. — Columbus Apartment Shooting on Warm Springs Road Leaves One Injured. Authorities are investigating a shooting that occurred Monday night at an apartment complex on Warm Springs Road, leaving one person injured.

Police responded to North Gate Village Apartments around 8 p.m., where a large law enforcement presence was observed at the scene.

According to officials, one individual sustained injuries in the shooting. The injuries are not considered life-threatening. Authorities have not released the identity of the victim.

No arrests have been made at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.
