Woman Hospitalized After Early Morning Shooting at Savannah Motel on Ogeechee Road

SAVANNAH, Ga. — Authorities are investigating a Thursday morning shooting at a local motel that left a woman hospitalized with potentially life-threatening injuries.

According to the Chatham County Police Department (CCPD), officers were dispatched to the Thunderbird Motel, located at 4015 Ogeechee Road, at approximately 12:30 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered a woman who had been shot.

Emergency responders transported the victim to Memorial Health University Medical Center, where she is currently receiving treatment for serious injuries.

Preliminary findings from CCPD detectives indicate that the woman was inside her motel room when gunfire erupted. Investigators believe the shooting occurred when an individual fired a weapon through her door during an altercation taking place outside the room.

The suspected gunman fled the scene but was later located and taken into custody by Savannah Police Department officers at a separate location shortly after the incident. Authorities confirmed that the suspect is also hospitalized due to injuries reportedly sustained during the altercation at the motel.

This incident follows a previous, unrelated shooting at the same motel in October 2025, in which a woman was shot in the leg during a separate dispute.

19-Year-Old Critically Injured After Shooting at DeKalb County Apartment Complex

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. — Authorities are investigating a shooting that occurred Monday afternoon at a DeKalb County apartment complex, leaving a 19-year-old man seriously injured.

Police confirmed they responded to a reported shooting at Woodside Village Apartments, located at 3948 Memorial College Ave. in Stone Mountain.

According to the victim’s mother, the 19-year-old was visiting his grandmother at the time of the incident when he was shot in the face. She said the bullet entered through his cheek and exited through his neck.

The victim suffered significant blood loss and is currently being treated in the intensive care unit, where he is expected to remain for an extended period.

The victim’s mother spoke Monday night and provided details about her son’s condition as the investigation continues. Authorities have not released additional information regarding suspects or the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
