
Man Injured in Stone Mountain Gas Station Shooting as Suspects Flee in Victim’s Car, Raising Security Questions
DeKalb County Texaco Gas Station Shooting on Memorial Drive Leaves Man Wounded, Sparks Safety Concerns
STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. — Authorities in Stone Mountain are investigating a shooting that left a man injured Tuesday afternoon at a gas station along Memorial Drive.
According to DeKalb County Police Department, officers responded shortly after 3 p.m. to a report of a person shot near the 6200 block of Memorial Drive. When officers arrived, they located a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital and was reported to be in moderate but stable condition.
Police said the suspects fled the scene before officers arrived, driving away in the victim’s vehicle.
Crime scene tape was observed surrounding the gas station and nearby businesses at the intersection of Memorial Drive and Mountain View Drive. Investigators have not yet released details regarding what may have led up to the shooting.
A nearby auto shop employee reported seeing a man walking around with a firearm earlier in the day. The same witness said he later observed the victim on the ground and called 911.
