STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. — Authorities are investigating a shooting that occurred Monday afternoon at a DeKalb County apartment complex, leaving a 19-year-old man seriously injured.
Police confirmed they responded to a reported shooting at Woodside Village Apartments, located at 3948 Memorial College Ave. in Stone Mountain.
According to the victim’s mother, the 19-year-old was visiting his grandmother at the time of the incident when he was shot in the face. She said the bullet entered through his cheek and exited through his neck.
The victim suffered significant blood loss and is currently being treated in the intensive care unit, where he is expected to remain for an extended period.
The victim’s mother spoke Monday night and provided details about her son’s condition as the investigation continues. Authorities have not released additional information regarding suspects or the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
