Deadly Shooting at Camelot Condominiums in South Fulton Sparks Police Investigation
A fatal shooting at the troubled Camelot Condominiums in South Fulton leaves one man dead, prompting an ongoing investigation amid the complex’s long history of violence and safety concerns.
South Fulton, GA – A tragic shooting incident unfolded Thursday afternoon at the Camelot Condominiums in South Fulton, Georgia, resulting in the death of one man and sparking a police investigation. Authorities responded to reports of gunfire at the complex, located at 5655 Old National Highway, just after 3:00 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from two gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical responders quickly transported the victim to Grady Memorial Hospital, one of the region’s leading trauma centers. Despite efforts to save him, the man was later pronounced dead at the hospital. As of now, his identity has not been released to the public, and authorities have not provided information about possible suspects, a motive, or whether any surveillance footage captured the incident.
The South Fulton Police Department continues to actively investigate the case. Crime scene investigators and detectives were still present at the scene late Thursday, working to collect evidence and interview potential witnesses. The department has not confirmed if a weapon was recovered from the scene or if any arrests have been made in connection to the shooting. This latest act of violence is not an isolated event for the Camelot Condominiums, a property that has been marred by years of criminal activity, safety violations, and structural deterioration. Located off Old National Highway, the complex has long been a focus of concern for city officials and residents alike.
Over the past five years, the Camelot Condominiums have experienced multiple major fires, drawing attention to ongoing safety hazards within the community. A particularly devastating blaze occurred in 2020, displacing more than two dozen families. The fire also uncovered deeper issues, as investigations into the handling of insurance funds raised suspicions about financial mismanagement by members of the homeowners association. Some residents alleged that critical resources intended for fire victims were misappropriated, leading to growing distrust in the property’s leadership.
The violence has also escalated alarmingly in recent years. In 2023 alone, six homicides were reported at the complex, making it one of the most dangerous residential areas in the city. This spike in violent crime prompted renewed calls from local leaders for the complete demolition of the property. Community advocates and concerned neighbors have voiced fears about the safety of residents, particularly families with children, who often find themselves caught in the crossfire of criminal activity.
In July 2025, the situation at Camelot took another turn when the complex’s homeowners association director was arrested. Charges included forgery, fraud, and theft by deception. These allegations stemmed from financial irregularities and raised further questions about the governance and transparency of the association overseeing the property. The arrest only deepened the crisis of confidence among residents, many of whom have long argued that the complex is beyond repair and should be condemned.
Despite various efforts to intervene, including proposed redevelopment plans and discussions of public safety investments, the Camelot Condominiums remain a symbol of urban decline in South Fulton. The latest fatal shooting underscores the persistent challenges faced by law enforcement, city leaders, and residents who continue to grapple with how to address the deep-rooted issues plaguing the property.
As the investigation into Thursday’s shooting continues, community members are once again left to confront the harsh realities of living in a neighborhood where crime and neglect have become tragically commonplace. Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.

Key Questions After the Camelot Condominiums Shooting
As South Fulton police continue investigating the circumstances of this tragic shooting, several critical questions arise:
- Were there previous acts of violence at Camelot Condominiums before this shooting?
- Did property management have knowledge of ongoing criminal activity or threats on the premises?
- Were any security guards, cameras, or other protective measures in place at the time?
- Did ownership or the homeowners association take any steps to improve safety following earlier incidents?
- Have law enforcement officials responded to other calls for service at this complex in the past?

Linton Blackwell, Atlanta Artist Known as B Green, Fatally Shot by Off-Duty Police Officer in Buckhead, GBI Says
Atlanta, GA – A man was shot and killed by an off-duty Atlanta police officer late Saturday night in Buckhead, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).
The incident took place around 11:30 p.m. in the rear parking lot of the Buckhead Butcher Shop, located at 3198 Cains Hill Place NW.
Authorities say the officer was working a secondary job at the Five Paces Inn, a bar nearby at 41 Irby Avenue, when he was alerted to a disruptive individual. The officer then encountered a man attempting to re-enter the bar. Based on information suggesting the individual might be armed, the officer fired his weapon.
“I was around the corner, and I heard the whole clip empty out. When I came around the corner, the cop had his gun up,” said Jay, a local employee who was nearby at the time of the incident.
Police confirmed the shooting occurred before additional officers could arrive on the scene.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation identified the deceased as 44-year-old Linton Blackwell. According to their preliminary findings, the off-duty officer learned that Blackwell had been involved in a dispute outside the bar. As the officer approached, Blackwell walked toward a nearby parking lot.
“The officer followed Blackwell. Blackwell entered a car in the parking lot before putting an item in the small of his back,” stated the GBI. “The officer approached Blackwell and gave him commands in reference to a gun. The officer discharged his weapon, hitting Blackwell.” A handgun was recovered during the investigation, although officials have not yet confirmed who the weapon belonged to.
Friends and family identified Blackwell as a well-known Atlanta musician who performed under the stage name B Green. Loved ones also shared that he was a father of twins, a local business owner, and lived near the scene of the shooting.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is continuing to look into the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
